Larry Holman - Beaufort Black Chamber of Commerce
Larry Holman is President of the Beaufort County Black Chamber of Commerce.Larry Nathaniel Holman is a 1974 graduate of North Carolina Central University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Commerce from the school of business majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Financial Management. He also attended the School of Business Graduate School for one year before being transferred with the J.C. Penney Company to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1975.
Larry is a recent retiree from the J.C. Penney Company after 27 years. He was the store manager in Beaufort five years before his retirement in 2001. In 1997 Larry was presented the Chairman’s Award, which is J.C. Penney’s most prestigious award for managerial excellence. Larry’s store ranked in the top 10% of J.C. Penney’s 1200 department stores.
Larry is very active in the community. Larry is the treasurer of Access Network Inc. He is an ex-officio member of the board of the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce, President of the Beaufort County Black Chamber of Commerce since January 2001. President of the Real Deal Investment Club, board member of the Beaufort-Hilton Head Economic Partnership, former Vice President of the YCMA board of directors, former member of the Audit Committee for the Beaufort County School District, served on the Academic Review Committee of the Beaufort County School District, Life Member of the NAACP, a member of the Beaufort Orchestra Society, and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Larry and his wife Wilma, have two girls and a son who is attending USC. Larry and Wilma have established the Larry and Wilma Holman Scholarship Fund at North Carolina Central University located in Durham, North Carolina.
