Jan Baxter - Palmetto Electric Cooperative - Network Chairwoman

Jan R. Baxter, certified economic developer and current Chair of the Lowcountry Economic Network, has been employed by Palmetto Electric Cooperative for 26 years and currently holds the position of Manager of Community/Economic Development. Jan is from Claxton, GA and is a graduate of Georgia Southern University. During her professional career Jan has received may awards including the SC Electric Cooperative Woman of the Year and SC Economic Development Ambassador. She is the former Chairman of the Board for Thomas Heyward Academy and the former President of the Jasper County Chamber of Commerce. Jan currently serves as the Chair for the Lowcountry and Resort Islands Tourism Commission and serves as Vice-Chair of the Lowcountry Regional Education Center Advisory Board. She also participates in various professional organizations such as the South Carolina Economic Developers’ Association, Southern Economic Development Association and National Rural Economic Developers’ Association. Jan is married to Walter G. Baxter, Jr. and has two children.
