Carlotta Ungaro is the President and CEO of the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce. Carlotta started with the Beaufort Chamber in January of 2006. In her first year, the Beaufort Regional Chamber has added an economic development committee focused on business retention, started a customer service training program for ninth graders using business leaders as mentors, established the Lowcountry Young Professionals, and revamped the governmental affairs committee. Carlotta also led the successful lobbying effort to pass noise and land use zoning around the Marine Corps Air Station to mitigate encroachment. She also served as the team leader in northern Beaufort County on the successful campaign to pass the transportation tax referendum.

Carlotta previously served as the Vice President of Governmental Affairs for the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. In her six-year tenure there, Carlotta worked on transportation, education, economic development and environmental issues at the state and local levels; these issues included living wage, panhandling and aging infrastructure. Carlotta began working in economic development in 1992 as Research Director for the Metro Augusta Chamber of Commerce. In 1994, she moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she served as editor and sales manager for Power Delivery, a trade magazine for the electric utility industry. In 1998, Carlotta returned home as the Southwest Georgia regional economic development representative for the Georgia Department of Economic Development. Carlotta grew up in Ellaville, Georgia. She graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University in neighboring Americus in 1986 and received her master’s degree in business administration from Georgia State University in Atlanta in 2003. Carlotta is a member of the Sea Island Rotary, the Carteret Street United Methodist Church, the Beaufort Art Association, Pathways Connect and the Historic Beaufort Foundation.
